Work Environment 

We are looking for a Project and Sales Engineer to support efficiently the expansion of our activities in Water infrastructures (such as Large & Small Hydroelectric Schemes, Dams, Reservoirs, Water transfers, and River Hydraulics). As Project and Sales Engineer in the Water sector, you will be supporting Projects Managers in delivering Water-related consulting & engineering projects, with a major focus on hydropower and dam projects. 

Our projects cover engineering studies, Owner’s Engineering, and/or Engineering-Procurement-Construction Management assignments. Your projects are in Southeast Asian countries. with short-term missions possible. You are integrated into the Tractebel Water community, a worldwide network of Water specialists keen on sharing their knowledge.  

All your missions have to be performed with the highest standards of Quality / Safety / Legal / Ethics. 


Sales (and Business Development) Activities (50% of the working time):

  • Prepare technical and financial proposals for the acquisition of new projects in the field of Water Engineering projects with a strong focus on hydropower and dam projects. 
  • Describe the understanding of the project.
  • Writing technical methodologies with the support of experts from the respective fields of expertise to meet the requirements from the Scope of Works.
  • Determining the required team members for the execution of the services to meet the requirements from the Scope of Works 
  • Preparing Time Schedules for the execution of the projects, i.e. Activity Schedules and Manning Schedules.
  • Preparing budgets for the execution of the services and calculating the offer price.
  • Taking into account tax requirements and laws of the respective countries of project execution.
  • Select and compile appropriate Project references.
  • Compile the Curriculum Vitae (CVs) of the team members. 
  • Attend Pre-bid meetings, if necessary.
  • Support in the Business Development Activities in the South-East Asian region. 

Technical Project Execution (50% of the working time):

  • Bring direct support to the Project Manager for successful coordination of the project.
  • Conduct simple engineering calculations and analyses in your field of expertise and perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned and under the supervision of an experienced engineer. 
  • Participate in the evaluation of the most appropriate technical solutions and economically 
  • optimize the projects.
  • Coordinate and review the Engineering disciplines’ design reviews and cooperation with 
  • involved Engineering units from abroad.
  • Work on technical research when needed. 
  • Under the guidance of the project manager, monitor the planning, the budget, the safety aspects, and the technical quality of the project.
  • Assist the Project Manager with the administrative work of the project (including invoice management, maintaining records and entering data, updating project and client databases, and drafting minutes of the meeting).   • Participate in the follow-up of the project by contributing/organizing site visits or missions, having regular contact with the Clients and/or Contractors, and complying with the quality and ethical standards of TRACTEBEL.

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Water Resources Management, or equivalent. 
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the respective fields, including proposal preparation, sales activities, BD activities, and technical project execution. 
  • Solid computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, AutoCAD, and multiple engineering design and document control software) 
  • Proactive, dynamic, and with strong analytical skills with an eye for detail. 
  • Flexible and independent.
  • Highly motivated with a willingness to grow personally and professionally.
  • Great communication skills and fluency in English both writing and speaking.
  • Additional knowledge of any other language is an asset.
  • Able to travel for short-term missions for bidding or project purposes.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural team as well as with Contractors and Clients.
