Thanks to a strong increase in business activity, we are currently recruiting a fulltime Nuclear Engineer Radioactive Waste Management for a permanent position in our Brussels HQ, Namur, Hasselt or Ghent office (partial homework possible).

 

Function

As  Nuclear Engineer Radioactive Waste Management you will join our dynamic team which is responsible for the expertise field related to Radiation Protection, Radioactive Waste Management and Nuclear Decommissioning. In close collaboration with your colleagues, your Group Manager and the Project Manager, you conduct Engineering Studies in the field of Radioactive Waste Management, this covers both the radioactive waste resulting from operations and from dismantling. 

 

Core responsibilities

Technical expertise

  • Knowledge about solid, liquid and gaseous radioactive waste types and treatment;
  • Knowledge about treatment and conditioning of solid radioactive waste;
  • Development of waste management strategies;
  • Verification of technical specifications, technical follow-up of contracts and commissioning of installations for the treatment and/or conditioning of radioactive waste.

Collaboration

  • Verify the technical work performed by your peers;
  • Actively engage in knowledge sharing with others;
  • Coaching of young colleagues;
  • Working in close relationship with the final Client and interact with Safety Authorities and the Radioactive Waste Management Agency.

Working environment

Within the Tractebel Business Area Global Nuclear, you will join one of our technical departments which is managed by the Head of Métier and the Group Managers. Together with the engineers in the teams, we cover all Engineering aspects in the field of:

  • Radiation Protection, Radiological Characterization and Radiation Monitoring;
  • Radioactive Waste Management (both waste from operational and from dismantling operations);
  • Nuclear Decommissioning Processes (preparation of the dismantling of the Belgian Nuclear Power Plants).

Your profile 

Minimum requirements:

  • an experience of 5 years at least in the domain of radioactive waste management;
  • a Master’s degree in Engineering / Sciences;
  • Language: (French or Dutch) and English;
  • Knowledge of the Belgian Nuclear Ecosystem;
  • Working principles of a Nuclear Power Plant (type Pressurized Water Reactor);
  • Knowledge about the waste management systems of the Belgian NPPs is an asset;
